Our Working Test
The club will be hosting our working test on Sunday 23rd June 2024 at our training ground Highfield Park Farm, RG27 0LG.
It is always a great day out and you’ll be surprised just how good your dog really is. Come along treat it like a normal training day, have some fun and come away with an award if all goes well. If all else fails it’s a great day out so don’t think about it just enter.
Summary
There will be three classes for each breed (HPR, Retriever & Spaniel)
- Puppy: dogs aged between 6 to 12 months on the day
- Novice: dogs aged over 12 month who have not previously won a novice working test
- Open: dogs aged over 12 months that are well trained or have won a novice working test
Cost: £35 for members, £40 for non-members
Location: Training Ground, Highfield Park Farm, RG27 0LG
Start Time: Please arrive from 9am the test should start around 10am, this gives us enough time to get you all signed in.
What’s involved
Each test is comprised of four elements:
- Hunting
- Two land retrieves
- One water retrieve
25 points can be awarded for each task for a total of 100 points.
Trophies, rosettes and award cards will be awarded for 1st place, with 2nd to 6th place receiving medals, rosettes and award cards.
You can enter more than one test on the day e.g. Puppy and Novice or Novice and Open with your dog or run two dogs in the same class.
How to sign up
You can sign up in advance via our app, in person or via email or on the day. Payment can be made by cash or card. Please complete the generic booking form preferably before the day – as this helps with the admin.
The cost is £35 for members and £40 for non-members
What you need to bring
Two dummies marked with your name or initials
Lunch, tea and coffee will be available
Other things to consider
If you are running two dogs, please bring someone with you to hold the other dog while the other is being run.
All dogs will be kept on leads at all times unless competing in one of the tests and the Judge will tell you when to remove the lead.
Please pick up any dog poo and rubbish and put it in one of the black bin bags provided.
We want everyone to enjoy the day so if you bring any youngsters with you please make sure that they are supervised at all times as there are obstacles and do not let them anywhere near the water.
