Welcome to the West Berkshire Gundog Club, our aim is to make dog training fun for you and your dog.

Whether your goal is an obedient companion, a skilled shooting dog, or competition success, we can help you every step of the way, in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Puppy Training: Get the best start to your training for you and your puppy at our weekly class every Sunday.

Sunday Training: Every Sunday come rain or shine join us for our weekly training sessions for dogs and handlers of all ages and skill levels.

Tiered Training: Looking for a more structured training program? Our tiered training program is designed to cover all aspects of gun dog training and is suitable for dogs 6 months and over.

One to One Training: Whether you’re addressing a specific concern or fine-tuning advanced skills, our expert trainers are here to guide you every step of the way with a one to one training session.

Events: Throughout the year we run one off training days and working tests.

December Events

We have the following events coming up in December, for more details see our events page.

Flushing Days 18th and 27th December

These days are for spaniels and HPRs who are nearly ready to go into the shooting field. This is one of the final steps with the aim of the day to get them steady to game.

It is held on a shoot but no shooting will take place. You will be working your dogs on pheasant, partridge and other ground game in woodland and cover crops.

Winter Working Test – 29th December

Come along on 29th December to take park in our Winter Working Test, the first time any Gundog Club has hosted one in this country.

Be part of something special and have a fun day with you dogs after all the Christmas indulgence.

Tiered Training – Starting February

Our tiered training courses will start again on Saturday 8th February. This training program is designed to cover all aspects of gun dog training and is suitable for dogs aged six months and over.

Sunday Training – 15th December

This Sunday will be the last one until Christmas. We’ll be back on the 29th December with our Winter Working Test.

We’ll be running the following classes this Sunday:

  • 09:30 to 10:30 Puppies
  • 11:30 to 12:30 Juniors and Beginners
  • 13:30 to 14:30 Intermediate and Advanced

These will be held at our training ground on Malthouse Lane which is along the Basingstoke Road (A33). The what three words are ///nipped.lace.comically.

Within each class we focus on the training needs of each breed – retrievers, spaniels & hunt point retrievers.

Each session is £25 per dog, payable on the day via cash or card.
